Bob Tilton
My favourite UK Emo band i think. They started up in Nottingham around 1993 or so. They blend beautiful soft guitars with harsh shudders of panic. Really good, poetic lyrics to top it all off amazing. I'm putting up the Peel Sessions as it is just amazing, and mixes one of my favourite UK bands with my favourite radio DJ's Ever.

Julia
Julia were a emo/hardcore band that played around the early 90's and put out a good few releases in their short lifetime. Some members went on to form Lumber.

Across Five Aprils
Across Five Aprils popped up around 1996/1997 and played a great post hardcore/emo style of music with long drifting quieter sections and pretty heart felt heavy parts. Like emo? Like Across Five Aprils.

Baby Harp Seal
Saw this on a Last FM page:
“my first band was called baby harp seal, we played from 93 - 96 when we broke up because of egos (mostly mine). we played kind of emo music, but not really - we were into hoover and fugazi and heroin, and two of us had a led zep fixation. we did a few 7 inches and one album, which i still listen to now and then. some parts make me cringe, and some parts make me nostalgic. with hindsight, i’m quite proud of it. it was what it was, some lads in their early twenties being a bit pretentious. sometimes it worked and sometimes it didn’t. I was gratified to see on last fm that someone is still listening to it on their computer - i don’t know how it got there because we only ever released vinyl. happy days though, happy days…"
I saw one of these guys a couple of years ago at the Manchester Jazz Festival playing trumpet in a really good Jazz band, true story.

Enoch Ardon
Spainish screamo that is fast, short and very good. I posted up their 7" Demo which dropped in 2006.

Gantz
Gantz were from France and played between 1998-2006 and got to play with some great bands such as Funeral Diner and Amanda Woodward. They played some pretty heavy stuff at a slower pace than alot of other screamo bands but doesn't take away from the sheer intensity.

Broken Chords Can Sing Alittle
Had the pleasure of doing a four way split tape with these guys and Guiseppe, My Head in Clouds and Like Nomads. They play a very stripped down form of screamo/punk, making it simple means they can focus on the intensity and melodies. This is very good.

Optimus Prime
AMAZING!!! Just love these crazy Russian peeps. Formed in 2005 and after a few in band troubles they finally got rolling. I will be uploading their s/t EP that is everything you want from a screamo band, awesome emo'esque breakdowns ,fast, heavy parts. For a 2006 release has quite an old feel about it, probaly helped by the DIY style recording.

Cowboys Become Folk Heroes
One of my favourite screamo bands!!!!! Epic build ups that take time and care and brutal fast outbursts that shake you to your core.

Excitebike
More Emocore goodness from once again the early 2000's, hurrah! Excitebike came out of Virginia and didn't last all too long, like most good bands it seems but they did leave some great tunes behind them.

Kids Near Water
Kids Near Water came out of Essex (UK) in late 2000. They play a simple brand of gruff punk/emo/screamy of music and were signed upto the great Firefly Records quite early on. They put out a good few releases, but i have put up one of their first EP's as it was the first thing i heard by them and is still my favourite. Enjoy!

Manrae
Copied from their Myspace:
"Manrae were a slow building band formed by Glenn Bowen, drummer of then, seminal straight edge band Crossfire from Leicester, England. Glenn formed the first incarnation of Manrae in 1991. Disgruntled with the direction that Crossfire were going in, Glenn wanted to form a different band more akin to the music that inspired him at the time & at the same time make the move from behind the drum kit to singer. The first line up of Manrae was Philip Welding - Guitar, Sean Atkinson - Bass, Glenn - Vocals / Drums.
Manrae struggled through their first 18 months as a band with an unreliable drummer, Glenn having to fill in at practice sessions more often than not.
Manrae's break came when they were asked to appear on the Heartattack 10 compilation LP released by Ebullition Records of Goleta, California, USA, when owner, Kent Mclard, heard a demo tape of theirs. The band went into the studio in July 1994 & recorded 'Running On a Treadmill' for the LP. The track was well received & put Manrae firmly on the map & the band were suddenly in more demand for live appearances. At this point Adam Boot - ex Aviculture - was added as their permanent drummer.
Within 12 months Ebullition offered Manrae a seven inch release of their own & the band headed back to the recording studio in May 1995, this time recording six tracks in total. Three ('Pacata Hibernia', 'Sleight of Hand' & 'Mr. Leuchter') for the upcoming seven inch a re-recording of 'Running On a Treadmill' & two new tracks 'Collusion' & 'Or Am I Somewhere Else' which were never released.
The 'Pacata Hibernia' 7 inch (Gaelic for 'Conquered Ireland') was released later that year & gained the band even more noteriety.
Shortly before the recording of their first seven inch was due to take place, Phil decided to leave the band & pursue his other band, Schema. Manrae decided to go ahead with recording for the 7 inch with it's current line up & formed a new line up for live shows. Sean stepped up to play guitar & Kevin Batley was drafted in to play bass.
This was the final & most stable line up of the band that went on to play live for a further 8 months until Glenn disbanded Manrae 5:30am one cold February morning in 1996 after returning from what proved to be their last show in Bradford, UK.
After a short break, Glenn & Sean then went on to form Post hardcore four piece Half Seas Over who appeared on several compilation records & released a self titled CD EP in 1998. Glenn & Phil reunited in 1998 for the short lived post hardcore three piece instrumental band "Torrey Canyon" with Stephen Short from Half Seas Over on bass."

Kerosene 454
Kerosene 454 popped up in 1993 up in old Washinton DC and played some heavy, dirty, and noisey music! They split up just after At Zero which was an amazing album. But here is the Race album which has a mix of more rougher tracks! The bassist went on to play in Canyon. Awesome.
Kerosene 454 - Race
In First Person
In First Person were heavy, they will possibly make your nose bleed. Featuring two ex members of The Assistant they mix up fast punk riffs with bone crushing heavyness and add in some great polictical lyrics and you have a great band. One of the guitarists now plays in Black Kites.
In First Person - Dead Winter Summer Alive
A Petal Fallen
Quite an awesome screamo band that wern't too afraid to experiment. Quite breakdowns that always lead into choas and vice versa. Powerful stuff, worth a cheeky punt.
A Petal Fallen - 10"
Left Hand Cuts The Right
So, so good! Simple, clean cut riffs with pretty aggresive vocals these guys nailed it! They were part of the pretty awesome Austrailian scene that popped with other cool bands like James Dean. Get it and like it!
Left Hand Cuts the Right - You Breathed Like Winter
Garrison
Hailing from Boston Garrison played pop/emo/alt rock!?!? With awesome duel vocals and great guitar and drum work these guys were amazing. I'm posting up the Bend Before the Break EP as it is possibly my favourite EP EVER!
Also here is a rare video of them:

Evergreen
Formed and played about around the mid 90's this lot played their punky/emo goodness for a short time. There were alot of bands called Evergreen, but these were the good ones! Super Emo!

Vanilla
Amazing stuff from these French guys. Formed in 1992 (when most of you wern't even born) they burst through with their brand of emo/punk and didn't stop till it was all done. Can see alot of influences in nearly every song, so can see what an effect they had.

Don't know too much about this lot other than they maybe French! Still, this is their demo and has that early emo/hardcore vibe to it, which means it's awesome.

The Assistant
This band, i love! I'm sure there will be many posts with former members of this band too follow, but for now will just post up this s/t album. Hard to describe their sound anything from screamo to grind to pop punk to well anything really. They are one of those bands that come along and change everything.

Watership Down
This is their 1997 7", it contains three songs of a emo/hardcore kinda groove. I have listened to this at least three times a day and love it more each time i listen to it.

Under a Dying Sun
Under a Dying Sun were around in the early 2000's. I think they had members of Funeral Diner in or were just really close friends with them, either way they stand alone with their great, powerful riffs and small quiet break downs. Really awesome emo stuff, and i hear one memeber now plays in Punch. Fair play.
Under a Dying Sun - S/T
Amalthea
Awesome emo stuff from Sweden i think. They have gone alot more into post rock kinda groove but still rather good. Here is the Demo from 2004.
